Scrum Master: An Overview
A Scrum Master is a facilitator and problem-solver. They are the leader who has been trained to be the guardian of the Scrum process, making sure it never wavers or falls apart. Since they are so integral to the process, a Scrum Master’s primary duty is to keep things on track and moving forward. They are also responsible for working closely with the Product Owner and keeping everyone on the same page throughout all phases of the project.
Scrum Master Responsibilities
The Scrum Master has a high degree of responsibility. He or she is the person who facilitates the group and guides the process, while also handling any issues that arise. They’re often seen as a “servant-leader” who serve their team members with humility and empathy. Some of the responsibilities that they are accountable for are:
Facilitating the group – The Scrum Master is responsible for coordinating meetings and making sure everyone is on board with what needs to be done. They need to make sure everyone’s opinion is heard, but then work to get the team to focus on their most important tasks.
Coaching – The Scrum Master helps guide their team in an agile environment during sprints and other milestones. Their role goes beyond facilitating, so they need to be prepared to provide feedback to help solve problems.
Handling impasses – Sooner or later, there will be conflict within the team that needs resolving. The Scrum Master’s job is to handle this issue collaboratively and find appropriate resolutions together with all parties involved.
Translating stakeholder priorities – Sometimes stakeholders may have conflicting goals among themselves that don’t align with those of the team or organization at large—and it’s up to the Scrum Master to figure out how each stakeholder can get their needs met, even if they have different priorities (i.e., deadlines).
Becoming A Scrum Master
As a Scrum Master, you’ll be responsible for making sure the team is following the strategy and meeting deadlines. You will also help with pre-planning and post-planning activities. You must be a natural leader when it comes to resolving conflicts and handling tough situations. If you are an experienced project manager with great communication skills, then this could be an ideal career move for you!
Benefits Of Being A Scrum Master
The benefits of Scrum Master Training are plentiful. As you can see below, Scrum Masters are in charge of making sure that the team is working efficiently and they ensure that the process is being followed correctly. This includes setting up and managing technical infrastructure, facilitating meetings, and preventing obstacles.
